Henderson Global Investors has sought to strengthen its presence in the Asian market by naming a new CEO for its Japanese operations.
PIMCO’s former head of operations for the Asia Pacific region, Shiro Tsubota, has taken over from current CEO Takashi Muramatsu.
Muramatsu, who has taken an executive advisor role at Henderson, had served as Japanese CEO for seven years.
Henderson said the appointment is part of a concerted effort to grow its business in Asia over the next three years. Henderson’s Asian operations account for 5% of the group’s total assets under management at present.
Tsubota, who is now based at Henderson’s offices in Tokyo, brings with him 25 years of industry experience in both operations and administration of fund management, as well as distribution and marketing.
