Edward Bonham Carter is to stand down as group chief executive next March and will be replaced in the role by Maarten Slendebroek.
Bonham Carter, who has been at Jupiter for nearly 20 years, will remain with the group in an executive capacity as vice chairman, reporting into Slendebroek.
Slendebroek joined the fund manager in September 2012 from BlackRock as distribution and strategy director
Jupiter chairman Jamie Dundas said: ‘Maarten has made a significant contribution since he joined the company as distribution and strategy director and his appointment as group chief executive is a natural evolution of Jupiter’s executive team.
‘I am also delighted that Edward, who has achieved so much for Jupiter, will stay with us in a new executive role focusing on engaging with key stakeholders- an increasingly important requirement as we grow.’
Bonham Carter added: ‘It has been a great privilege to lead Jupiter during the past 14 years. The company is well positioned for growth and it is the right time for me to hand over the reins.’
